CHAOS – STRUCTURE – COLOR – RHYTHM  are some words that come to mind when I look at my paintings. Chaos expands in space, structure, appears open or closed and finally color vibrates and makes itself felt rhythmically. Rhythm open phats to my own dinamic, moving forward and being blocked, building and destroyed, improvising and being surprised. But there is a moment in which the painting becomes independent.
When I paint, time stop. This "arrest" in time is what I want to paint, outside of linear time.
Since the biginning of my education, geometry manifested itself implicity or explicity in my work. From 1980-86, I lived in México City where I studied Mayan and Aztec cultures, especially the geometry of their architectural.

From my exhibition entitled “Geometry, Interminable Delirium” of 1995, I developed a series of paintings with differents aproaches.
The Series: “Homage to Beethoven” from 2007, exhibited in Berlin in 2008 has as its starting point the annotations and strikethroughs that Ludwig Van Beethoven wrote in the margins of his manuscript scores.
When I'm present in the act of creating, desire, idea and material come together. I think the result of that interaction draws the viewer's eye. I always wonder: ¿What is the link that a work of art creates between the artist and the observer?

BIOGRAPHY

About her life

Elena Kevorkian began her training in 1976 at Asociación Estímulo de Bellas Artes, at MEEBA, at Talleres de maestros argentinos and at Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes Prilidiano Pueyrredón.

For many years she met frequently with a group of artists such as Rómulo Macció, Jorge Duarte, Fabián Galdamez, Miguel Angel Vidal, Rogelio Polessello, Perez Celis and others. It was an intense and enriching time.

Her work moved thgrouth differents stages and materials like pencil, ink, pastel, oil, collage, acrylic, from figuration in her early years to the abstraction that is currently developing.
She made an extensive artistic production, individual and group exhibitions in Argentina, México, Spain, France and Germany.

México and Creative Potential

In 1980 she moved to México, where she lived and continued her studies until 1986. She did research on prehispanic cultures and in 1983 she began to exhibit her works in the country, developing a great career as an artist an educator.

During those years she created a teaching system designed to develop the Creative Potential wich she called " Spiral Dynamics System”.
This interdisciplinary learning system integrates artistic expression, body movement and music in order to unlock the channels of expression in people.

She also offered courses, seminars and workshops in institutions from different countries, with adults and childrens. Some of them are: Dynamic Painting, Creative Development, Potential Development Lobe Right Brain, The 4 Elements, Colors and my Body, Movement and  plastic Creativity with Ethnic music and live instruments.

East and West

Elena Kevorkian practices Eastern disciplines as Hatha Yoga and Meditation  among others.
In her artwork, philosophies of East and West come together in a synthesis toward full polyphony , creating calm through rhythm. Joyrful and mysterious world between Earth and the Cosmos.
This universe is reflected in her series: “Complementary - Opposites”, Eros and Thánatos, 2005; Heaven and Earth, 2005, and “Tribute to Beethoven”, series 2007 – 2008, among others.
